Numerous Etruscan archaeological remains have been discovered in the surrounding area including those of a necropolis and the tombs along the Via dei Sepolcri. The town also preserves some ruins of the original Etruscan walls while a museum has recently been opened which preserves numerous finds also from the period Villanovan and Roman times, while others are still preserved today at the National Archaeological Museum of Florence.
