Roccastrada  is the classic medieval village immersed in history and nature. You can visit all the other villages in the surrounding area (Ribolla, Roccatederighi, Torniella, Sassofortino, Montemassi, Sticciano Alto, Sticciano Sede, Piloni), the ancient and picturesque castles, including that of Montemassi which still preserves the profile and the landscape that was the background to the masterpiece of the “Guidoriccio da Fogliano” frescoed by Simone Martini in the year 1330 in the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena as a “memory” of the submission to the obedience of the Balzana dei lords.

Roccastrada itself was built on a castle, that of the Aldobrandeschi Counts.
